In an era dominated by subscription services and music downloads, there are still some tracks that can only be obtained on CD. With CD sales and the number of rental stores dropping, tracks on CDs have become extremely valuable. It is no exaggeration to say that CDs are assets because of their completeness as products; they combine packaging, lyric notes, bonus content, and respect for the artists whose work they contain. To those who continue to insist on CDs, and who treat music CDs as valuable assets, we at Pioneer now offer the Premium Drive, which combines the optical and audio technologies we have accumulated over many years to prevent deterioration of musical assets and bring out all of the sonic qualities of CDs themselves. Pioneer’s Premium Drive protects valuable musical assets.
CDs that have been listened to for many years become covered with scratches and fingerprints. In previous CD drives, such damage would cause read errors, with the drive interpolating error sections to play back sound. Pioneer BD drives are equipped with PureRead, a proprietary technology that reads music CD data faithfully. PureRead assesses the status of a disc automatically even if it has a certain degree of damage, adjusting to use the optimal reading method so that music CDs can be ripped or played back in a manner that reproduces the original sound as closely as possible, without interpolating any error sections.
This product is equipped with an audio CD checking function that checks the playback quality of the audio CD being played, and displays it in four levels (A to D). If the quality level is poor (C or D), the function displays methods for dealing with the issues, including changing the unit settings. This allows you to make backups of your favorite albums before they become damaged and unlistenable, protecting your music assets.

Equipped with the Music CD Care Mode that reduces the load on CDs so that you can enjoy your precious music at a great quality for a long time. This function lowers the disc rotation speed to keep centrifugal force down and reduce the load on the disc. We recommend turning on the Music CD Care Mode when listening to valuable CDs such as SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) high-quality audio discs, or CDs that may have degraded in ways that are not readily visible, such as old music CDs or rental CDs that have been listened to by many people.
This product features high-grade machined aluminum insulators (fitted with a cushion of optimal shape and material), with a luxurious double-anodized coating of the kind used in high-end audio devices. In addition, anti-vibration cushioning and rubber have been used to reduce unnecessary vibrations in the drive by an average of approximately 30%. This offers more stable reading and writing.
To keep signal noise to a minimum, we have added a noise-filtering structure to the power circuitry that runs the drive in addition to using low-noise components. This has lowered power supply noise by an average of approximately 30%, maximizing sound quality when playing important CDs.
Large amounts of sound recording data imported from music CDs are a precious asset that you don’t want to lose. Many people save sound recording data in HDDs or SSDs. However, data saved in HDDs and SSDs is said to last for three to 10 years, and there is a risk of this data being lost. By saving large amounts of sound recording data in a Blu-ray Disc for storage, this risk of data loss can be reduced. This product is also equipped with a “Disc Resonance Stabilizer” that enables stable writing and reading even during high-speed recording. In addition, using this product together with Pioneer Blu-ray Discs, which have a stable, proprietary recording film and comply with strict inspection standards, allows for even more stable recording.

Uncompromising sound quality for speakers, stereo systems, and wireless audio devices, continuously refined ever since our founding. From LaserDiscs to CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray Discs, our optical disc technology has continued to play and record to all forms of optical discs. With the audio and optical disc technologies and know-how that we have built up over these long years, we will protect and draw out the charms of your precious assets.
Pioneer’s founder, Nozomu Matsumoto, successfully developed the A-8 dynamic speaker.
Release of the PSC-5A, the world’s first separate stereo system.
A home-use optical video disc player was first exhibited at the “Consumer Electronics Show” held in Las Vegas in the United States. In June of the same year, the VP-1000 LaserDisc player was launched in the United States.
The P-D1 CD player was brought to market by building upon the optical pickup technology developed for LaserDiscs.
Using the technology developed up until that point, Pioneer started the development of a Blu-ray disc writer, releasing the BDR-101A internal BD/DVD writer for PCs
Established TAD Laboratories. Release of the TAD-R1, the first speaker system in the Reference series.
Release of the Stellanova wireless high-resolution audio player, which enables uncompressed wireless playback of high-resolution sound recordings on PCs and smartphones, in Japan.
Release of the Stellanova Limited high-end wireless high-resolution audio player, which enables uncompressed wireless playback of high-resolution sound recordings, in Japan.
Release of the BDR-X13E-X premium model that utilizes the know-how we have acquired through our experience with AV equipment to deliver noise-free, high-quality audio.
By utilizing the know-how we have acquired through our experience with AV equipment, we have further upgraded our premium model by fitting it with machined aluminum insulators to further suppress vibration and noise, as well as a noise-filtering structure in the power circuitry, reducing power supply noise and offering better quality and performance than in previous models.
