Tokyo, Japan, May 9, 1997 --- Pioneer Electronic Corporation has announced the introduction to the domestic market of the first Macintosh-ready DVD-ROM Drive Sub System "PCP-SR100D".

DVD is the new optical-disc medium which meets diversified needs in the multimedia era. The new DVD-ROM is an interactive medium for a wide variety of information such as visual, sound and larger volume of computer data than the existing CD-ROM. DVD-ROM has a large data storage capacity of 4.7 GB (Single Sided Single Layer Type) which is about 7.5 times that of CD-ROM, and is expected to replace CD-ROM in the future as the next generation disc medium.

PDP-SR100D, the outboard DVD-ROM drive, is compatible with most DVD format discs and can also be used as a 10X CD-ROM drive. This model is equipped with a SCSI interface and can be easily connected to existing Macintosh computers.

• Using the "Kanji Talk" bootable CD-ROM, it can be used as a starting drive.
• Control software "CD Vision" for audio CDs is included, allowing for convenient functions like CD jackets filing, etc.
• Includes modules ready for the control bars installed from "Kanji Talk 7.5.3" onward.
