Two new models combined with terrestrial digital TV tuners

October 3, 2006, Tokyo, Japan - Pioneer Corporation announced today the release of a new lineup of "Raku-Navi" series in-car navigation systems between late October and late November in the Japanese consumer market. The new lineup comes in five HDD-based models and four DVD-based models. Out of them, two HDD-based models, AVIC-HRZ99G and AVIC-HRZ88G, are combined in sets with terrestrial digital TV tuners. It will meet the increased demand resulting from the expansion of terrestrial digital broadcast reception areas in Japan and boost the new lineup. The suggested retail prices of new models range from 147,000 yen to 325,500yen (consumption tax included).
With its traditional concept of "easy operation and high performance," Pioneer's new "Raku-Navi" series continue to employ four keywords for car navigation operations: Departure, Traffic Congestion, Local Area, and Returning. Users can smoothly and easily operate the car navigation system during driving from these keyword buttons on the screen touch panel or remote control, or via voice control.
Besides innovative navigation capabilities to traffic congestion and route search ability thanks to various high-tech functions including Congestion Forecast Route Search, On-demand VICS and Pioneer's proprietary IQ High Accuracy to precisely locate and display the vehicle's current position on the map, the new "Raku-Navi" HDD-based models feature advanced Target Map, which can display detailed city map up to a scale of 10 meters*1. This map mode enables the user to select the map display mode from four modes, Enlarge Text, Address Focus, Road Focus, and Facilities Focus, depending on the driver's immediate driving needs. Plus, a new intersection guidance mode Arrow Guide can help the driver understand the timing of turns at intersections more accurately. When the car approaches an intersection, an arrow is displayed prominently with text information (name of intersection, distance, etc.) on the map. The arrow will successively change in color from green to yellow to show the timing of the turn to be made by the driver.
Furthermore, both HDD-based and the DVD-based models employ a new luxurious dark-silver body, which is the best match with automobile interior. In addition, iPod® connection is possible via a separately sold Pioneer iPod® adaptor*2. Terrestrial digital TV programs can be enjoyed when the Pioneer terrestrial digital TV tuner is connected. Especially for the HDD-based models except the AVIC-HRV22, the user can directly operate the terrestrial digital TV tuner on the touch panel or via voice control, and enjoy clear images and sound with superior stable reception.*3
