TOKYO, Japan, October 12, 1998 ----- Pioneer Electronic Corporation announced its introduction of the "Happy Tune" MD/CD Micro-Mini System Series, to the Japanese domestic market.

Pioneer has designed the "Happy Tune" to fit the taste of boys and girls in their hi-teens. Pioneer carefully examined their lifestyles, and found that these people consider room decorations and sundries as a kind of fashion. They carefully choose what they buy, and buy only what may fulfill and match their life-styles. The increasing of stores that handle these kind of merchandise proves that we can call this a real fashion trend.
"Happy Tune" is a totally new type of audio system. Design, Sound (Soundscape BGM), Music, all elements are aimed to develop a comfortable living space.
Today, Pioneer introduces an audio system that answers the taste of the new generation.

1 ) A Variety of Five Choices

The Happy Tune Series comes in 5 different designs and colors that should fit anyone's taste. The consumer can choose that 'right' design that matches his or her life-style. Also, as each component has the same size as a CD case (14.5cm in width), it will fit into any snug spaces or shelves just like a decor.

2 ) Soundscape Mix Function

The "Soundscape Mix Function" will allow the user to playback music and a special "Happy Tune Soundscape" sound affect at the same time. The user can actually mix FM/AM broadcast or CD music with the special 'Happy Tune' sound effects. Each model comes with its own "Soundscape MD (Mini Disc)" software, having 45 different special sounds recorded, to meet the characteristic of each design --- 'natural' (with sounds of the waves, the wind, wind blowing through the woods, etc.) 'landscape' (footsteps heard in busy downtown areas, oceans, etc.), and 'electrical' (cyber/pop music touch, etc.). You can listen to the Beach Boys with the 'sound of waves' as BGM, to produce the feeling of being near the ocean. Vivardi with 'bird singing', or even add a 'cyber touch' to Metallica to even excite-up your room.
The music and sound effect balance can be controlled at will with a simple operation. And of course, the 'Soundscape' sounds can be seamlessly played by itself.

• Sound Control Function
  By choosing one of the four prepared 'sound' modes, the "Sound Control Function" will allow the user to choose and change the atmosphere in which he or she wants to hear the music in. Such as 'Natural' (for a natural touch), 'Refresh' (for a refreshing touch), 'Happy' (for a cheerful touch when listening to POP music), or 'Deep' (for love ballads).
