Pioneer submits commitment letter to SBTi

Pioneer Corporation has submitted a commitment letter pledging to set and submit science-based target of a greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi)*1 and the letter has been received on July 11. We will set the target ahead to the medium-to long-term consistent with the standards of the Paris Agreement*2 and aim to obtain the certification from SBTi as soon as possible.

Pioneer Group’s philosophy on environmental protection is “We will make efforts to always contribute to maintaining and realizing the rich and safe global environment through our corporate activities, based on the general understanding that it is one of our corporate missions to maintain, improve, and hand over the global environment to the next generation”. We are working on solving the enviromental issues as the following four significant points, Prevention of Global Warming, Conservation of Resources and Recycling, Management of Chemical Substances and Preservation of Biodiversity.

We will further work on the reduction of environment impact throughout supply chain as well as continuous activities of green energy introduction and thoroughgoing energy conservation etc., thereby contributing the realization of a sustainable global environment and carbon neutrality.

*1 The SBTi is a collaborative initiative with the partners, WWF, CDP, WRI, UNGC, the We Mean Business Coalition, and validates and encourages companies in setting science-based GHG emission reduction target in line with the Paris Agreement.
