Pioneer to Provide Free Inspection and Necessary Repair of Certain High-definition Plasma TVs and Monitor(High Definition TVs in the PDP-433/PDP-503 line along with plasma monitor PDP-503PRO)

March 11, 2004, Tokyo, Japan - Pioneer Corporation announced today that it will provide free inspection and necessary repair for certain high definition plasma televisions and plasma monitor (a total of seven models). These plasmas were manufactured between September 2001 and January 2004 for the Japanese domestic market.

The free inspection and necessary repair pertains to specific parts in both the display panel and the media receiver of the specified models. There are no safety issues and no chance of fire.

Owners in Japan of these models are cordially requested to contact Pioneer Corporation in Japan at toll-free 0120-5-81028 to schedule repair. A notice to owners in Japan will be posted on the Pioneer homepage.

Cause for Repair
In regard to the display section of the plasma:

(a)  The soldering in the circuit board of the power supply may have a crack that may make it impossible to turn on the power or may cause the power to shut off. As a result, the plasma may cease to operate.

In regard to the media receiver:

(b)  The soldering in the A/V unit may have a crack that may cause BS digital circuitry to become unstable. Users may not be able to view the BS digital broadcast programming or it may be blurry.

The incident(s) may occur with the following models:

PDP-433HD-S
PDP-433HD-U
PDP-A433HD-S
PDP-A433HD-U
PDP-503HD
PDP-A503HD
PDP-503PRO*  (Only certain units of the PDP-503PRO plasma monitor are affected.)

Production Period of Affected Models: September 2001 to January 2004.

Quantity of Affected Models: 7 models, approximately 51,700 units
